Sunday School

Our Sunday School is for all children 3-12 years old. During the service, the children join one of our pastors on the steps of the chancel for Children’s Time, a brief story about the day’s Scripture. Afterward, the children go to their classrooms for a specially prepared lesson led by church volunteers, returning to the sanctuary for the Postlude.

The children are divided into the following age groups:

  • Preschool - 3 through 5 year olds

  • Kindergarten and first graders

  • Second and third graders

  • Fourth through sixth graders

These young children begin to learn about God with stories, activities, crafts, and games, all centered around God and the Bible. They make friends and begin to learn about themselves, too.

Preschool - 3 through 5

Kindergarten and 1st Grade

We use a hybrid curriculum. One is a delightful approach called Godly Play, a Montessori-based program using storytelling and exploration play. The other, also based in story-telling, is the UCC’s Picture the Bible.

2nd and 3rd Grade

This age group attends a more discussion-based class curriculum, using Talk Sheets and Echo the Story to explore God and the Bible.

4-6th Grade

This group is in a pre-confirmation age of learning and exploration. The use Echo the Story, a discussion-based curriculum to explore their individual questions.
