Memorials

At First Congregational United Church of Christ we believe death never has the last word in God’s Kingdom.  We believe in the eternal promises of Christ that say that God is a God of life and life abundant, both here on earth and beyond what our eyes can see.

Pastors meet with families to plan the services and to share that loved one’s life story.  First Congregational conducts memorials for members and for people in our wider community.

Please refer to the form below for further information about holding a Memorial Service at our church and a Memorial Reception following the service.

Celebration of Life for
Dee Glassford

December 12, 1928 - August 6, 2026

Visitation and Memorial Service on Saturday, October 24

Dee Glassford, a dear friend to many and a longstanding member of our congregation, passed away on August 6, 2026 after 97 well-lived years.

She had an extraordinary gift for making people feel seen, loved, and cared for. Her thoughtful handwritten notes, sent faithfully over the years, will remain treasured keepsakes for all who were fortunate enough to receive them. She leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, hospitality, and quiet elegance. She taught those around her that a beautiful life is built not through grand gestures, but through daily acts of kindness, thoughtfulness, and unwavering devotion to family and friends. You can read more about her life and family in her online obituary.

SERVICE: Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life with a Visitation at 1 p.m. on October 24th, followed by a Memorial Service at 2 p.m. in our Sanctuary.

Please keep Dee's family in your thoughts and prayers: daughter Julie, son Kevin, granddaughter Ava, and great-grandsons Dutch and Decker.
