Elevate Our Faith

After 35 years, our six-level hydraulic elevator needs critical updates.

The Elevating our Faith campaign hopes to raise $175,000 to fund updates to our elevator and HVAC, replacing our security cameras, electronic locking doors, windows, and plumbing have depleted our Capital Reserve Fund.

Some of this work is finished, some is underway. We would not have been able to initiate any of this work without our Capital Reserve Fund, which now needs replenishing. Work is scheduled to begin on Monday, April 20 and should last for four weeks.

More about the elevator

Our six-level 1990 Dover DMC hydraulic elevator needs modernization.

In April 2025, we received notice from TKE (they purchased Dover in 2000) that replacement parts, especially electronics, may no longer be available for our elevator. They are no longer produced and over 80,000 elevators still in operation today are competing for the few parts still available.

Our elevator is critical to our church operations. We have already modernized the elevator to meet the 2019 State Elevator Code.  In 2026, it will be subject to the 2022 Code - another reason for urgency.

More about the costs

Beginning in May of 2025, Buildings & Grounds went through a thorough bid process approved by Council, working with Suburban Elevator (current vendor), TKE (our vendor prior to Suburban) and Colley Elevator.  Colley is a regional company while the others are international.

The quotes were amazingly close. Colley was selected due to their lower upfront cost, their large portfolio of area non-profits and churches, excellent reputation, and lower annual maintenance costs.  The work being done by Colley is 70% of the total estimated cost of $161K, including contingencies. The other 30% is for work being done by other contractors for electrical, plumbing, fire detection, ventilation, ceiling/ wall construction and repair.

The Colley contract was signed at the end of October with a deposit of one-third, or $37,490, with another third due when the equipment arrives in February, and the final third due at completion and acceptance, hopefully at the end of March.  An actual install date has not been set, but our Pastors have told us to make sure to avoid Easter.  The other required work will take place a few weeks before Colley begins.

More about the Capital Reserve Fund

With an aging structure such as our church, repairs and maintenance expenses can grow suddenly.  Updates to infrastructure, improvements to energy efficiency, and unexpected repairs are covered by the Capital Reserve Fund.

The Elevating Our Faith campaign is seeking $175,000 over the next six to twelve months to replenish the Capital Campaign Fund, which will be depleted to -$39,232 once the elevator project is finished.

Recent updates and repairs which have been paid for through the Capital Reserve Fund include work on our roof top A/C system, updating our aging security camera system, replacing deteriorated windows, the electronic door locking system, and repairing leaking sewer pipes in the Education wing.

Some of this work is completed; some is underway. We would not have been able to initiate any of this work without our Capital Reserve Fund. Your donation will help to keep a healthy balance in a fund for capital improvements.
